DUKE T water hardness drop tester for swimming pools and hot tubs
Complete specifications
It allows approximately 100 hardness determinations (the actual number depends on its size).
For optimal pool water maintenance, it is necessary to measure the hardness of the water and, in case of a large value, adjust it to the range in which the effectiveness of the pool chemistry products will be the best. The high hardness of the water also results in the formation of a layer of limescale (precipitated carbonate and calcium sulfate) on the walls of the pool, and in extreme cases, the circulation circuit pipes become overgrown.
The tester comes in a plastic blister and contains reagents, cups, instructions for use and technical information.
Determination of hardness:
- Execution: titration by drops with a step of 1°N
- Reagents: T1 (120 determinations) and T2 (120 determinations) and T3 (600 drops)
The hardness of surface and underground water usually ranges from 2 - 30°N, but in some locations it can be up to 50°N.
Verbally, we distinguish between soft water (up to 8°N), hard water (up to 25°N) and very hard water (above 25°N). The indicated numerical interfaces are not fixed, there may be more of them, and the verbal designations may be, for example, "very soft" water, "medium hard" water, etc.
Surface water is mostly soft, groundwater rather hard.
For drinking water, Decree No. 252/2004 Coll. the recommended hardness value of 2 - 3.5 mmol/l (i.e. 11 - 20°N) and the same range can be considered optimal for swimming pools as well.
